Arsenal to face West Ham in Carabao Cup fourth round after win at Brentford
Arsenal will travel to West Ham in the Carabao Cup fourth round after seeing off Brentford 1-0 on Wednesday night.
Reiss Nelson scored the only goal of the game for Mikel Arteta’s side, slotting home after being set up by Eddie Nketiah after just eight minutes.
The Gunners had to ride their luck at times as Brentford pushed forward searching for an equaliser, with Aaron Ramsdale – who was back in goal in place of David Raya – making some fine saves.
And the one time he was beaten, Jakub Kiwior got back to make a superb clearance off the line to deny Keane Lewis-Potter.
Speaking after the game, Mikel Arteta said: “Really happy. Two very different halves. Second half we were too direct and it becomes a difficult game and you have to defend every time.
“When you don’t play that well you have to have some big defensive moments.”
Arsenal’s reward for their win at Brentford is an away tie at West Ham in the last 16.
