Arsenal’s Viktor Gyokeres deal imminent as Cristhian Mosquera joins squad

Arsenal have finally made a significant breakthrough in talks with Sporting CP over Viktor Gyokeres, with the Sweden striker now on the verge of a move to north London.

Discussions have been ongoing for more than a week between the clubs to firm up the exact nature of a €73.5m deal (€63.5m + €10m), after an agreement in principle was reached on Sunday, July 13.

Those discussions have centred around how the €10m add-ons will be made up, with Sporting and Arsenal unable to come to an agreement.

But a compromise has now been met and the hope is that the deal will be swiftly concluded, with personal terms already having been long since agreed.

Arsenal are hoping that Gyokeres will soon be able to travel out to Asia to link up with the squad on their pre-season tour, with Mikel Arteta’s side set to play the first of three tour matches on Wednesday against AC Milan.

Gyokeres will not be signed in time for that game, but Arsenal have been putting plans in place for the 27-year-old to arrive just in case a deal could be done, with the focus always on him being involved in time for the meeting with Tottenham in Hong Kong on July 31.

Arsenal meanwhile are set to confirm the arrival on defender Cristhian Mosquera, with the centre-back having flown out of the UK to join the squad in Singapore on Tuesday.
