Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey.

Thomas Partey injury update

Fresh on the heels of Kai Havertz pulling out of the Germany squad due to injury, it has now been announced that Thomas Partey will not join up with Ghana during the international break.

An update released by the Ghana Football Association on Monday said: “Thomas is unable to join the Black stars due to medical issues he is currently experiencing, and his club has scheduled him for further tests in the coming days.”

Obviously, with Partey’s past history record that could be a cause for concern, but my understanding is – similar to the Havertz situation – that the withdrawal is purely precautionary.

My information is that Partey is suffering with illness and it was thought best that he stay in London during the international break, rather than endure a lot of travel.

Partey has started every game for Arsenal so far this season, aside from the Carabao Cup win against Bolton, he also played the full 90 minutes in both of Ghana’s international fixtures last month.

So Mikel Arteta and Arsenal are understandably keen that no risks are taken with the 31-year-old and that his load is managed after such a demanding start to the campaign.

Partey will now stay at Arsenal and in a bid to get back to full health ahead of the trip to Bournemouth on October 19.
