Arsenal celebrate against Sevilla.

Arsenal player ratings vs Sevilla: Gabriel Jesus and Takehiro Tomiyasu superb

Two moments of brilliance from Gabriel Jesus earned Arsenal a vital 2-1 away win at Sevilla as Mikel Arteta’s side took control of their Champions League group.

A superb turn and pass from Jesus set up Gabriel Martinelli for the opening goal just before half-time and the Brazilian then scored himself soon after the interval, curling in a wonderful finish to double Arsenal’s lead.

Nemanja Gudelj then pulled a goal back for Sevilla with a header from a corner, but Arsenal saw out a nervy ending to seal a valuable three points in Spain.

Arsenal player ratings

David Raya

A couple of nervy passes out from the back. Had looked very confident when coming to claim crosses, but survived a really scary moment late on when he almost punched a cross into his own net. 5

Ben White

A bit more reserved than normal going forward. Solid defensively. 7

William Saliba

So calm. Another fine performance. 7

Gabriel Magalhaes

Once again forged an excellent partnership with Saliba. Gave little away. 7

Takehiro Tomiyasu

Really seemed to relish playing in the inverted left-back role. Got forward far more than normal. Never stopped working. 8

Jorginho

Steady enough just in front of the back four. Kept the ball moving. 6

Declan Rice

Broke up play well and looked to drive forward when he could. Impressive again. 8

Martin Odegaard

Led the press as always, but couldn’t really influence the game. Missed a big chance just after half-time which summed up his night. 5

Bukayo Saka

Didn’t really get any joy down the right. 5

Gabriel Jesus

World class for both goals. Brilliant play to set up Martinelli’s opener and then a fabulous finish to double the lead. Limped off injured though, which is a worry. 8

Gabriel Martinelli

Showed real composure to break the deadlock. Perfect response after missing a good early chance. 7
